As a community woodland we depend on local people and wider communities getting involved. We’re looking for people from all the nearby towns and villages, Laughton, Lewes, Ringmer, Uckfield, East Hoathly, Eastbourne, Chiddingly, Hailsham – and as far afield as the city of Brighton and beyond.
Community can be geographical, but for us it also means shared interests such as wildlife, education in nature, health and well-being. We want to work with nature to improve physical and mental health, discover our archaeology and history, plus learn new skills – like bushcraft and wood working. Our community also includes dog walkers and horse riders who love this space.
So far we’ve had some special one-off events, like bluebell walks and storytelling in the woods, but we’ve also hosted courses that introduce people to learning about – and the benefits of being in – this beautiful woodland.
We are creating opportunities for volunteers to get more regularly involved in the management of the woods. Please contact us using the Volunteer form.
We are always interested in hearing from people interested in joining or supporting the management committee of our CBS. If you have specialist knowledge or skills, and/or financial, legal or organisational development experience we’d particularly like to hear from you.
